how blue.eyes.lie started
The origin of blue.eyes.lie dates back quite a while.
Originally, BEL was a concept band I created nearly 20 years ago. After my band broke up in 2005, I was 22 and my life just went into hyper-speed. I moved 7 times over the next 3 years, then eventually started a family in 2009. During that time, in 2006, I started blue.eyes.lie while living in Winter Park, FL. It was me on guitar and I brought in a couple other guys on drums and keys. I had written a few songs with that crew before band drama. I ended up moving, yet again, and took BEL with me. It has been mine ever since for numerous other songs that I have written/composed. I never had time to get people together for a band again, and while I learned to poorly play some other instruments, with a wife, 3 kids, and a full time job, I just wasn't able to commit the time to get good enough at anything other than guitar to put full songs on a recording.
Things changed in 2024 when I found Udio, and then eventually Suno...
I first saw Frostbite Orckings - a fully AI generate band, songs, personas, appearance, and everything else. Then my brother told me that there was a consumer available app that let people create songs just like the Orckings and MetalVerse were doing. The old musician in me found a way to create music while leading a busy adult life, which woke up a passion in me that had been asleep for years. Writing these songs has generated a creative outlet that I desperately needed and has made me better off for it, too. First, I renewed all of the songs I had written for my prior bands that we performed live to see how close I could get them to their original composition. I really picked up an understanding of the system and the art of the prompt through this process. That record become renewed/reborn- a collection of songs I wrote between 2002 and 2008. My creative outlet then expanded to the story of the band. I was fascinated with the idea that I could make this band anyone or anything. It become more than me just bringing my songs to life. I created an entire world for blue.eyes.lie. I wrote myself into the characters. Part of me is represented in each of the band members, and each of the band members carry part of my life history.
For an AI outfit, blue.eyes.lie is very
authentically human.
I would go on to write a couple more records worth of songs that would become World in Decline and Hope for a Redder Tomorrow. After a few dozen songs, I finally thought, "these are actually pretty good songs" and I figured they were worth sharing even if only 20 people listened every now and then. While writing songs for my new record A New American Renaissance, I decided to throw one track online and made a quick Hook for it- it didn't exactly go viral, but without any marketing or pushing the song through socials, I generated enough plays between that song and my others to convince me that people might actually give a shit about what I have to say.
Here's hoping...

who or what is blue.eyes.lie?
blue.eyes.lie is an AI band, and rather than hide that, I embrace it. You will not find anyone here trying to fool you. The musicians are augmented, but the lyrics, vision, themes, and heart are authentic — 100% human generated — with hours spent writing, detailing prompts, editing, mixing, quantizing, splicing, and stitching each song into place.
If AI music is not something you can cross into, I respect that. But if you give blue.eyes.lie a chance, expect genre-blending metalcore that fuses chaotic energy, massive choruses, and emotionally charged social commentary into a dark, cinematic experience built around the tension between illusion and reality.

I like to think about the members of blue.eyes.lie like Voltron... or Power Rangers... whichever is your nostalgic go-to. Each member possesses something vital on their own, but when they combine together, they create something... almost human. ;-)
